Helen Jukes is an author and creative writing tutor with a particular interest in nature, ecology and the body. Her writing has appeared in The New York Times, The Boston Globe, Port Magazine, Aeon and others. Her first book, A Honeybee Heart has Five Openings (2018), a lyrical memoir of bees and beekeeping, was listed as a Book of the Month by BBC Countryfile, and a Book of the Week at the London Review of Books. It was shortlisted for the Books Are My Bag non-fiction award.

Her second book, Mother, Animal, will be published by Elliott & Thompson in 2025.
